Lion spatial capture-recapture projects

I am working with Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) and SANParks to estimate density, abundance, sex ratio and home range size of lions over the age of 1 year in sections of the Kruger National Park and the Kgalagadi National Park, using Bayesian spatial capture–recapture models. Discover how photographs can inform us on the status of the lion population and form a scientific base for conservation measures!

PhD: Lions and humans in the GLFTCA - The ecology of coexistence

I am currently a PhD student at Stellenbosch University. My project focuses on movement behavior, home range dynamics, habitat use, and connectivity of lion populations in the northern part of Kruger National Park (South Africa) and the adjacent Limpopo National Park (Mozambique) that undergo varying degrees and types of human-wildlife conflict.
